Soccer for Hope provides more than just funding. It provides a smile for a child in the hospital who receives a visit from a soccer star. These athlete's volunteer their time to come and sit with patients and their families, share stories and sign autographs. Many children remember these visits as some of the fondest moments during their lifetime. This opportunity is equally beneficial to both the child and the celebrity who meet and we have been so honored to present this forum for so many sick children.
Taking focus off their treatment is a reward these children crave. The high stress of therapy and the many intense decisions that surround the hospital setting can cause children to experience personality changes. But the anticipation of knowing someone special is coming to visit causes much excitement and the children become entrancingly motivated. Their attitude changes and they desire to feel their best during their visit, will rest prior and take their meds without issues because they are focused on the final outcome. They become much more proactive that day because they have a focused purpose to feel and look their best!
These visits are a special opportunity for Soccer For Hope to assist with enhancing children's quality of life. The indicators, including: psychological well-being, personal neatness and social interactions assist in coping with their illnesses and disabilities. It is defined as a goal-directed intervention and it is our hope that these positive distractions become an integral part of the children's treatment process. At Soccer For Hope, where helping kids is our goal, we can make a difference.
